Press Release: Six-Hour ‘Tin Man’ Miniseries To Begin Production in Early 2007 For December Premiere on SCI FI

SCI FI Channel has re-teamed with RHI Entertainment (‘Legend of Earthsea’), the industry leader of miniseries and movies made for television, for a wild sci-fi re-imagining of ‘The Wizard of Oz.’ Written by Steven Long Mitchell and Craig Van Sickle (creators of ‘The Pretender’), ‘Tin Man’ (working title) is a six-hour miniseries featuring a decidedly sci-fi twist on the fantasy classic. Lensing is slated to begin in Vancouver in early 2007 with an eye to a December 2007 premiere. Casting is currently underway.

ABC Family plans ‘Smallville’ marathon

From an ABC Family Press release:
Marathon leads into Superman: The Movie Starring Christopher Reeve

ABC Family will air a marathon of episodes that trace Clark Kent’s origins beginning with his arrival to Smallville, Friday, December 29 between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. (ET/PT). The marathon ends with the season 4 cliffhanger.

The series picks up with season 5 on ABC Family with the conclusion along with all new episodes of Smallville beginning January 2, 2007. Clark must face his past or see everything he has come to love; including his family, friends and the earth destroyed.

The marathon leads into the original Superman: The Movie at 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. (ET/PT) starring Christopher Reeve.

Friday, December 29

11 a.m. Pilot (SMA1001): A meteor shower reeks havoc on the town of Smallville and brings with it a small boy who is taken in by Martha and Jonathan Kent.

12 noon Rosetta (SMA2017) Determined to discover his origins, Clark visits Dr. Virgil Swann (Christopher Reeve) who possesses a message for Clark from his home planet.

1 p.m. Exodus (SMA2023B) In the second season finale Clark makes an astonishing discovery about his origins and faces the choice of his lifetime.

2 p.m. Relic (SMA3006) Lana discovers a picture of her great-aunts suspected killer and it looks exactly like Clark– only her great-aunt was murdered 40 years before.

3 p.m. Legacy (SMA3017) Jonathan begins acting strangely and Clark believes his Kryptonian father, Jor-El is responsible. (Guest star Christopher Reeve)

4 p.m. Memoria (SMA3019) Clark is forced into an experimental program that helps regain memories and he witnesses some of his earliest moments in life.

5 p.m. Covenant (SMA3022) A beautiful girl claiming to be from Krypton arrives in Smallville and forces Jonathan to tell Clark about the deal he struck with Jor-El.

6 p.m. Crusade (SMA4001) Clark returns to Smallville from being in a phantom zone, possessed by his Kryptonian alter-ego Kal-El.

7 p.m. Commencement (SMA4022) Clark discovers the reason he was sent to Earth and goes to the caves to seek answers from his father, Jor-El.

8 p.m.. – 10 p.m. Superman: The Movie starring Christopher Reeve.
