Sci Fi kills off Painkiller Jane

Painkiller Jane CancelledWith four episodes left to air in its first season, the comic-book inspired Painkiller Jane was given the boot by Sci Fi Channel Wednesday.

The series, which stars Kristanna Loken as Jane Vasco, a DEA-agent-turned-covert-government-weapon with superhuman regeneration powers, was announced days after the premier of Sci Fi's latest comic-turned-series, Flash Gordon.

Other actors in Jane include Noah Danby, Rob Stewart, Alaina Huffman and Sean Owen Roberts.

Sci Fi said that although there will be no second season of Jane, the current season will continue its run in the same time slot until the final episode airs September 21.

He recently "retired" from journalism, citing that too many mega-mergers caused news focus to shift from serving the public interest to serving up eyeballs to advertisers. Currently he works full time as a paralegal while attending night law school. A member of N3F on and off since 1984, David's fannish activities in recent days have been curtailed due to time and budget constraints of being a law school student; although he does manage to squeeze in episodes of Battlestar Galactica, issues of Weird Tales magazine and an odd superhero movie "now and then."
