Cancelled: Dresden Files closed by Sci Fi

CaNCELLED dRESDENIt's official. Harry Dresden's fleeting career as a TV star is over.

Sci Fi officially pulled the plug on the Dresden Files series Friday, according to a report by TV Guide.

But fans of Paul Blackthorne, who played the title character on the one-season wonder can still get their weekly fix of the lanky Brit.

He recently signed a new three-year contract with ABC to appear on its new fall series, Big Shots, playing a wealthy tycoon.

The reason for the cancellation came down to money and ratings. Dresden was not generating enough of either.

The news came as no surprise to many fans of the show, as word spread earlier this year that production house Lionsgate mothballed the sets for the series.

He recently "retired" from journalism, citing that too many mega-mergers caused news focus to shift from serving the public interest to serving up eyeballs to advertisers. Currently he works full time as a paralegal while attending night law school. A member of N3F on and off since 1984, David's fannish activities in recent days have been curtailed due to time and budget constraints of being a law school student; although he does manage to squeeze in episodes of Battlestar Galactica, issues of Weird Tales magazine and an odd superhero movie "now and then."
